چکیده

Dry remains of the herbal species plantain ( Plantago major ), wormwood Artemisia vulgaris ) and reed grass Calamagrostis acutiflora were used as a natural source for isolation β- mannanase producing strains. They isolated by using carob gum single carbon energy. Each chosen plant was found to be colonized with dominant epiphytic group microorganism, although plants had been collected in same location. Bacillus circulans only P. , subtilis on A. whereas Pantoea sp. C. . Bet-hedging during bacterial diauxic shift.

When bacteria grow in a medium with two sugars, they first use the preferred sugar and only then start metabolizing the second one. After the first exponential growth phase, a short lag phase of nongrowth is observed, a period called the diauxie lag phase. It is commonly seen as a phase in which the bacteria prepare themselves to use the second sugar. Here we reveal that, in contrast to the est...

Bioremediation of gasoil by indigenous bacterial strains

Petroleum refining industries produce large amounts of toxic effluents, causing environmental pollution. Iran is an oil-rich country that encounters oil pollution in its soil and water. Bioremediation of these pollutants is an appropriate solution to tackle them, compared to physical and chemical remediation methods. There are some factors that increase the rate of biodegradation; therefore, th...

Molecular characterization of epiphytic bacterial communities on charophycean green algae

Epiphytic bacterial communities within the sheath material of three filamentous green algae, Desmidium grevillii, Hyalotheca dissiliens, and Spondylosium pulchrum (class Charophyceae, order Zygnematales), collected from a Sphagnum bog were characterized by PCR amplification, cloning, and sequencing of 16S ribosomal DNA. A total of 20 partial sequences and nine different sequence types were obta...

Catalase-producing strains of streptococci.

The genus Streptococcus includes organisms which are homofermentative, facultative with respect to oxygen, fastidious in their nutrient requirements, without cytochrome system, and are therefore considered to be catalase negative. Recent work in this laboratory revealed two strains of several hundred streptococci, screened from silage fermentations, that were capable of producing catalase. They...
